TRAILER FOR THE “NEW KELUARGA SOMAT” SERIES OFFICIALLY RELEASED: THE FIRST AI-BASED TELEVISION ANIMATION SERIES

Mentari TV and Vidio have officially released the trailer for the inaugural season of the animated series “New Keluarga Somat,” marking a new breakthrough in Indonesia’s technology and entertainment industry. The series is the result of a collaboration between the creative team at Indosiar and the technology team at Vidio, combining stories full of life lessons with a production process supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

“New Keluarga Somat” is the first animated series broadcast on Indonesian Television and streaming services to be produced using VidioGen. VidioGen, a production platform built with AI from Google Cloud, offers a suite of assistive tools that help pre-production creatives, production artists, and post-production specialists accelerate the animation process, increase efficiency, and expand visual flexibility, all without losing the distinctive touch and cultural values that are the soul of Keluarga Somat (The Somat Family).

Developed by the Indosiar creative team, “New Keluarga Somat” tells the story of a simple family from Central Java who move to the outskirts of a big city and must adapt to modern life. The story is close to the reality of Indonesian urban society, facing the challenges of modernization while still upholding family values and gotong royong (mutual cooperation).

Now, with ‘New Keluarga Somat,’ we are bringing a new spirit, combining a down-to-earth story with future technology. Hadikusuma Wahab, Chief Product Officer of Vidio, added: “Through the VidioGen platform, we are utilizing AI technology to accelerate and perfect the production of local animated content. This production also proves that AI does not replace the role of human creators, but rather strengthens creative ideas so they can be realized more efficiently and innovatively.”

“New Keluarga Somat” will premiere on Mentari TV and Vidio in February 2026, confirming both platforms’ commitment to continue presenting high-quality, child-friendly, and relevant local content for Indonesian families.

The previous Keluarga Somat series continuously won awards from the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) in 2015, 2016, and 2020 for Best Animation Program, and also won the Panasonic Gobel Award in 2017 and 2018 in the Children’s Program category.

The “New Keluarga Somat” trailer can already be watched on the Vidio platform and various Mentari TV digital channels. The series itself will premiere on Mentari TV and Vidio in February 2026, confirming the commitment of both platforms to continue presenting high-quality, educational, and relevant local child-friendly content for Indonesian families.
